Safety Standards for Hi-Vis Workwear in Australia
At Eureka Safety, every garment is designed to meet or exceed the Australian and New Zealand standards for visibility, sun protection, and durability in demanding environments.

Day & Night

Day only

Night only
AS/NZS 4602.1:2011 – High Visibility Safety Garments
This standard sets the requirements for hi-vis clothing used in occupational settings. It defines approved fluorescent colours and placement of retroreflective tape for both day, night, and day/night use.
- Day/Night Use: Combination of both
- Day Use: Bright fluorescent fabric only
- Night Use: Retroreflective tape only

AS/NZS 4399:2017 – Sun Protective Clothing (UPF Rating)
All Eureka Safety shirts and jackets are rated UPF 50+, offering excellent protection by blocking at least 98% of harmful UV radiation. This is critical for outdoor workers exposed to harsh Australian sun.

AS/NZS 1906.4:2010 – Retroreflective Materials
This standard outlines the minimum performance of reflective tape used on garments, ensuring long-lasting visibility in low-light conditions.

Rail Specs
Eureka Safety garments meet Australian standards for high visibility and reflective materials, with rail options featuring “X” back tape for added safety. Our focus is keeping your team protected and compliant.

Traffic Control Specs
For road and traffic workers, visibility is critical, especially in environments with fast-moving vehicles and low-light conditions.
That’s why our garments follow biomotion tape guidelines as recommended under AS/NZS 4602.1:2011. Biomotion refers to the strategic placement of retroreflective tape on limbs, typically around the elbows and knees, to enhance the human form in motion.
This increases visibility from a distance and allows drivers and machine operators to quickly recognise a person as a moving human, even in the dark. At Eureka Safety, our designs prioritise this added protection, ensuring compliance and helping road crews stay safe and seen at all times.
